The Art 2 Aging
First, an introduction. We are Chris Henry and Dave Grein. We’ve been friends and colleagues for more than 30 years, sharing a passion for golf and dumb jokes. We are also into our “senior” years, which gives us the perspective from which to begin tearing down a lot of myths and false beliefs about being old. And that’s why we’ve created The Art 2 Aging.
The Art 2 Aging takes the view that individuals, 60 and older, can turn aging into a dance rather than feeling that it’s a burden; aging can be celebrated rather than feared; and that those over 60 can look forward to many more years squeezing the juice out of life. But how do you do that when health issues begin to crop up, the joints ache with arthritis, ligaments get tighter and shorter and worries about the D-word start to demand attention in our minds? We get it; it can be tough. But not insurmountable!
There is a prevailing attitude in our society that once you’re in your 60s, you have nothing more to offer to anyone. You become a placeholder in many ways, just running out the clock. Try to get hired for any meaningful kind of work based on your experience, talent, and expertise and you likely won’t even get an interview. You’re too “old”. You’re not ‘woke”, “not tech-savvy” (a huge misconception, by the way). Your ideas are out-dated. You’re just…past it.
We hope to prove how misplaced those views are by engaging in conversations with experts on aging - not just the physical aspects but the emotional, the spiritual and how all the different angles to growing older fit together to form a complete picture. In other words, the “whole enchilada”, as Wayne Dyer would say.
Our newsletter and podcast series will feature people from different disciplines and walks of life, all speaking about growing old or being old. Yes, we’ll talk with cardiologists, naturopaths, integrative medicine practitioners and social policy experts. But then there are the individuals we’ve found who are writing poetry and mystery novels in their mid 80s, are fitness instructors who run marathons at 81 or who began writing at the age of 78 and are making money doing so.
These people are living proof that age is no barrier. Unless we believe it is.
Please join us on the journey as we uncover and discover how the new sciences like frequency medicine and energy healing along with the power of the human spirit to overcome and succeed through intent, can combine to re-imagine life during the “golden years”.
