I thought it was about time I made an appearance. I’m Dave Grein, co-creator, co-producer and co-editor of The Art 2 Aging. I’m the quiet one…
I knew I would be writing a piece when I saw this New York Times article by Derrick Bryson Taylor on December 6. It’s about Dick Van Dyke’s recent collaboration with Chris Martin of Coldplay.
The video, “All My Love,” was directed by Spike Jonze and Mary Wigmore and filmed in October. The director’s cut –all 7 minutes – is magic. Every minute, every second, every frame.
It literally brought me to tears.
In case you haven’t seen it, do yourself a favor and soak it up. It has already been viewed nearly 7 million times!
Jimmy Kimmel had Dick and Chris Martin on his show before the release, describing the shooting of the film and it was hilarious.
A shorter version was released on Dec. 13, on Van Dyke’s 99th birthday and it too is great. Over 18 million people have watched this one!
Fellow Substacker, Dan Rather, with his 402k subscribers wrote this nice article about the two unlikely collaborators last week
As we say on The Art 2 Aging’s About page, “The Art 2 Aging takes the view that individuals, 60 and older, can turn aging into a dance rather than feeling that it’s a burden; aging can be celebrated rather than feared and those over 60 can look forward to many more years squeezing the juice out of life.”
I’m sure Dick agrees with us. And that’s why we have declared Dick Van Dyke our Person of the Year for 2024!
If you agree, let us know in the comments section.
Happy holidays from me and Chris Henry. We’ll see you when we return on January 3rd, 2025!
Happy New year to for you guys -- Dave and Chris!
Really appreciate the great work you are doing with this project!
So positive and uplifting...
Just got to 83 and I am going to continue to turn aging into a dance--doing it in my classes and personally !
